LEPC Introduction

The passage of the SARA Title III: Emergency Planning and Community Right-To-Know Act of 1986 mandates that facilities which produce, utilize and/or store certain hazardous materials must report these chemicals to State environmental authorities. This Act has also intensified local governmental authorities' and the community's concern and interest about these facilities.

It encourages these facilities to initiate community awareness about the chemicals they use and to work with local governments, emergency response organizations, and neighborhood groups in developing emergency plans in the event of a hazardous materials incidents at these facilities.

L.E.P.C. Meetings

The Wicomico County Local Emergency Planning Committee meetings are open to the public and private sectors.

Meetings are held at Greater Salisbury Building, 200 W. Main Street, Salisbury MD, 21801. (Use the entrance off Camden Street which runs off S. Division Street)

The meetings are held quarterly on the third Wednesday of the following months: August, November, February, and May at 9:00 AM.

Community Right-to-Know Notice

In accordance with SARA Title III, The Community Right to Know Act, the Wicomico County Local Emergency Planning Committee is hereby giving notice that the Hazardous Materials Plan and Community Right-to-Know information is available for public review, Monday through Friday, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Wicomico County Department of Emergency Services, 411 Naylor Mill Road, Suite 200, Salisbury, Maryland. Follow-up emergency notifications may subsequently be issued.

Household Waste accepted at Transfer Stations only.

Commercial Contractors & Landscapers must pay a fee for disposal of yard waste.
